Pathology Queensland has an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full time Staff Specialist Anatomical Pathologist to join our RBWH Central Laboratory. The ideal applicant will be looking for an opportunity to demonstrate their contemporary knowledge and skills whilst sharing our passion for clinical excellence. A competitive salary applies - total remuneration includes base salary, motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance and retention and attraction allowance (50% of base pay). Salary packaging options also apply to allow you to maximise your income.

What you'll do

  • Deliver expert Anatomical Pathology services that make a difference by providing timely, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic and consultation services that are both cost-effective and tailored to meet the clinical needs of referrers across Queensland.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of Anatomical Pathology by helping to design and implement strategic frameworks grounded in global best practices.
  • Supervise and support registrars, fostering their growth and ensuring the highest standards of professional development.
  • Engage actively in discipline-specific meetings, departmental discussions, and multidisciplinary team forums—building strong partnerships and ensuring alignment with client needs.

About you

  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in Anatomical Pathology, participate in the frozen section service, perform MDTs, be able to participate in the after-hours on call roster, and a high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management
  • Knowledge of the ISO 15189 and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Anatomical Pathology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.
  • The incumbents must be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.
  • Registrars who are finishing their training are encouraged to apply.
