About the role

The Sonographer Trainee Clinician is an eligible HP3 clinician who is completing a post graduate diploma in medical ultrasound under the supervision of experienced sonographers.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Deliver Medical Imaging services commensurate with training and experience, within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with:
    • prescribed professional and ethical standards
    • local protocols, policies, procedures and work-place instructions
    • relevant legislation
  • Apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under the professional guidance of a more senior clinician.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrates respect for others, remaining flexible, fair and willing to compromise when dealing with team members.
  • Understands and adheres to quality systems and processes and proactively identifies areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrates direction and vision for self-development, showing initiative in learning and a willingness to share information with others.
  • As experience builds in Medical Ultrasound, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under the professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Hold at least a tertiary degree qualification enabling enrolment in a Post Graduate Medical Ultrasound program that is accredited by the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Register.
  • Must be registered as a student sonographer with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Register

If a Radiographer, the successful applicant also must:

  • Have, or be eligible to have, current registration with AHPRA
  • Have, or be eligible to have, a Licence to Use Irradiating Apparatus issued by Radiation Health, Queensland.
