The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Registered Nurses (Mental Health – Hospital in the Home) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Contribute to development of team capability, provide operational process direction, training, mentoring, reflective practice and clinical supervision
  • Collaborate and liaise with consumers, families and other health professionals as required
  • Support and progress the Safe ward Interventions
  • Undertake a portfolio reflective of skills and level of practice

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
  • A postgraduate qualification within a relevant specialty will be highly regarded
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary

  • Permanent full time or permanent part time (one full time position or two part time positions, hrs negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $82 753 - $106 144 per annum or $41.73 to $53.53 p.h.

Hospital in the Home provides an alternative to an inpatient hospital admission, which allows Mental Health and Specialist Services to offer a more person-centred option to admission for mental health consumers within their home setting. Hospital in the Home acts as an alternative to inpatient hospital admission where the intensity and type of care provided in an admitted service is offered but allows for greater flexibility to meet the patient's preferences and facilitates maintenance of supports and links within the community. Based in Southport.
