Your new role:
As a Recreation Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of inpatients within the Spinal Injuries Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital. You will contribute to enhancing patients' quality of life through engaging and meaningful recreation programs. You will:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate group and individual recreation activities that support rehabilitation and recovery.
- Collaborate with allied health professionals, patients, and carers to design consumer-focused recreation plans.
- Contribute to team meetings, service improvement activities, and the training of students and volunteers.
About you:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people recovering from spinal cord injuries. You will bring strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and a person-centred approach to your work.
- Understanding of the role of recreation in recovery and rehabilitation following spinal cord injury.
- Ability to assess individual needs and interests to design engaging, safe, and goal-oriented recreation programs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with patients, carers, staff, and community partners.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.
We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
