An exciting opportunity has become available for a high performing individual to join the Engineering & Technology branch of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in the role of an Engineer. An exciting opportunity has become available for a high performing individual to join the Engineering & Technology branch of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in the role of an Engineer. As an Engineer, you will support the development and implementation of bridge monitoring projects, ensuring instrumentation is fit for purpose and aligned with the department's digital transformation strategy. This pivotal role involves shaping and executing a prioritised plan for monitoring initiatives and enhancing analytics capabilities. You will collaborate across all functional areas within Structures — Planning and Delivery, Operations and Management, Systems & Governance — as well as with teams across the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include collecting and analysing data to validate assumptions underpinning access and asset management decisions for Queensland's road network, supporting program development, and implementing reliable monitoring systems. You will work closely with Districts and suppliers to ensure these systems advance organisational goals, while continuously seeking innovative improvements and building strong stakeholder relationships to deliver successful outcomes.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural) or an equivalent qualification (Australian Qualification Framework 7 or higher).
  • Current C class driver's license
  • Demonstrates sound governance including respect and appreciation for legislation and policy frameworks operating in accordance with key standards including the Professional Engineers Act 2002, TMR's Risk & Opportunity Statement, Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011 and upholding the ethical standards expected of a professional engineer.

Applications will remain current for a period of 12 months.
