Senior Health Promotion Officer

The Strategy and Coordination Branch are looking for a Senior Health Promotion Officer to join their BreastScreen Queensland (BSQ) Program. In this role you will support the population screening program, BreastScreen Queensland, including system-wide planning, strategy development, policy development, policy analysis and strategy evaluation of a range of multi-strategy interventions in line with national, state and departmental policy and planning directions.

What you'll do
- Apply evidence, theory and judgement in planning, implementing and evaluating services and initiatives addressing breast cancer screening.
- Coordinate, planning, strategy development, monitoring and evaluation of preventive health services and programs addressing breast cancer screening.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders including national partners, state government departments, clinical networks, health service providers and non-government service providers, to build preventative health capacity in the sector and improve the delivery of preventive health initiatives to respond to emerging trends.
- Provide professional advice to senior management, partners and other stakeholders to influence the strategic planning and delivery of complex and innovative breast cancer screening related preventive health initiatives and service delivery models.
- Prepare complex documents and other information associated with the planning implementation monitoring and evaluation of breast cancer screening strategies and initiatives including discussion documents, reports, project plans and briefing notes.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- At least a tertiary degree in health promotion or public health. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of duties.
- Demonstrated ability to apply high level knowledge, expertise and skills addressing cancer screening issues in a complex population health environment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based principles to facilitate novel solutions to complex public health issues.
- Demonstrated ability to design and manage cancer screening projects policies and strategies involving stakeholders from a range of disciplines and lead change within quality, time and budget constraints.
- Proven effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare timely, accurate and responsive and well organised briefings, reports and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyse information and interpret data on complex issues to inform policy development related to cancer screening initiatives.
