Cairns State Special School is seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Attendance Officer to help boost student engagement and wellbeing. Step Into Your Next Chapter:

  • Check daily rolls and run attendance reports.
  • Send SMS or contact families about absences.
  • Update and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Work with teachers, support staff and leadership to follow up on students who are away often.
  • Provide admin support for the school office when needed.
  • Help us spot patterns in attendance and connect families with the right supports.

What You Bring:

  • Great communication skills - you'll be talking with parents, carers, and staff every day.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail - accurate records really matter.
  • Confidence with computers and databases (we use OneSchool and ID Attend).
  • A team player who enjoys working with others to get the job done.
  • Experience in a school environment, especially with attendance or admin systems.
  • Familiarity with programs ID Attend and OneSchool.
  • An understanding of how to support students and families who may face barriers to attending school.
