This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Education Futures Institute (EFI) in the Queensland Department of Education. The EFI is a key system initiative in the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student, to empower departmental staff, educators, school and system leaders to build professional expertise through high quality, targeted capability development across their career. As a Principal Officer in the Capability Branch you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality, targeted capability development programs for school and corporate staff.

The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.
The role of Principal Officer is offered on a full-time temporary basis and is located in Central Office.
About the Role:
The School Support and Corporate Capability team is responsible for developing and facilitating professional development and training of school support and corporate staff within the Department of Education.
Responsibilities Include:
Key functions of this role include:
- Supporting the design and delivery of capability programs for school support and corporate staff.
- Coordinating and supporting management of capability programs including procurement, project milestones, deliverables and coordination across multiple cohorts.
- Developing resources and materials associated with capability programs.
- Providing high quality advice, briefs, submissions, papers and reports to Capability Branch and Schools and Student Support Division.
- Leading and maintaining liaison, communication and coordination with key stakeholders to develop coordinated implementation strategies to achieve required outcomes.
The Principal Officer reports to the Manager, School Support and Corporate Capability, Education Futures Institute, Brisbane CBD.
The ideal applicant is someone who demonstrates:
- An understanding of the vision and strategic directions of the Department of Education.
- High-level written and oral communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of internal and external high-level stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high-volume environment, bring high level skills in problem solving, prioritisation and managing competing demands in a timely manner.
- Enjoyment working and collaborating with a diverse team to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education
