The role
The Principal Analyst - Data Science and Analytics works with healthcare activity, cost, and funding data sets to build reports and visualisations that allow key stakeholders to interact with the data, to inform decision making and health service planning. The role analyses the data displayed via visualisations and provides advice and support in the interpretation of results.
Key responsibilities:
- Reporting data – development of visualisations that allow for stakeholders to interact with a variety of data sets utilised by stakeholders to make decisions. Skills in Qlik and/or Power BI as reporting tools are essential. Reporting tools must be interactive, and easy to use for stakeholders from financial, business and clinical backgrounds.
- Interpreting and Presenting Data – High level capability translating results, robust critical appraisal, and formulation of recommendations to inform policy advice and development. High level expertise in data visualisation and creation of compelling narratives to enable storytelling with data.
- Creating & Locating Data – Expertise in the discovery, location and extraction of healthcare and funding data from a complex multisystem architecture. Ability to independently apply quantitative and qualitative mixed methodologies for the capturing, collecting and creation of new data to inform decision making and policy.
- Managing & Governing Data – Sound understanding of ethical data governance frameworks and ability to leverage off sound data management principles in the handling of all data through the branch.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Advanced skills in reporting and visualisation creation, with experience working with health related activity and funding data.
- Developed expertise in Qlik, Power BI and other related reporting tools as well as querying language such as SQL, SAS and Python.
- Proven ability to work with and transform multiple data sets to inform decision making.
- Proven ability in supporting key stakeholders to interpret data and draw conclusions.
- Advanced understanding of the Australian Healthcare System, Healthcare Funding and/or Health information Systems.
- Advanced communication skills – both interpersonal and written.
