About us:

The Perioperative Unit includes the Preadmission Clinic, Day Surgery Ward, Endoscopy, Procedure Room, four Operating Theatres, and Recovery, with support from the Acute Pain Service. The Preadmission Clinic has six consult rooms and a 10-chair waiting area. The Day Surgery Unit features a 10-bed ward and seven recliners for both admissions and recovery. The Recovery unit has nine bays for patients from the theatres, Procedure Rooms, and radiology services. Overall, these services support planned and emergency surgeries at Rockhampton Hospital.

About the role:

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) within the Day Surgery Unit is a Registered Nurse (RN) who leads and coordinates clinical services to uphold best practice standards and patient-centred care. Operating at an advanced level of autonomy, the NUM collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, drives operational leadership, and manages human, material, and financial resources. The role also supports clinical governance, applies expert knowledge, and fosters a workplace culture focused on education, research, and workforce growth.

About you:

  • The successful applicant will hold a tertiary degree qualification such as a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent. Current nursing registration though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is also a requirement for this position.
  • While not mandatory, a relevant post graduate qualification would be well regarded.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
