AODS offers a comprehensive range of services across hospital, community, and diversionary settings to respond to and assist in preventing harms related to the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The service operates multidisciplinary teams that aim to provide a comprehensive evidence-based approach to assist in addressing the issues arising at an individual and community level from the use of alcohol and other drugs.

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.

About you:

In your new role you will…… 

• Provide effective communication, consultation, and negotiation throughout the Day Withdrawal service to ensure the involvement of stakeholders.
• Effectively manage self and in collaboration with AOD Services Clinical Nurse Educator and other Clinical Nurse Consultants, develop staff to enable fulfilment of role responsibilities. Co-ordinate and provide specialist training and professional development activities to staff working with people with alcohol and other drug problems.
• Operationally lead and coordinate quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities at team leader level to ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective nursing services.
