We’re seeking a medical practitioner with an interest in Offender Health and General Practice. The role involves close collaboration with the Mareeba Hospital medical team, with optional opportunities to work in general practice or the emergency department. The Lotus Glen Health Service (LGHS) team reports directly to the Director of Medical Services at Mareeba Hospital, ensuring effective and equitable care at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. LGHS provides primary healthcare to male prisoners—detained, remanded, or sentenced—across both high-security and low-security units. The centre houses around 1,100 inmates, with a significant proportion from First Nations communities.

Purpose of the Role
Working at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre within rural health services across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, you will contribute as a dynamic Senior Medical Practitioner (GP) with an interest in Offender Health.

Your Opportunity

You will deliver high-quality care to patients at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, upholding clinical standards essential for achieving positive health outcomes within a primary healthcare setting. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes nurse practitioners, senior medical officers, clinical nurse consultants, clinical nurses, and registered nurses.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) evidence as required for your employment in accordance with legislation/government policy and Directives.
