Shaping the Future of Health in Central Queensland!
Central Queensland is experiencing rapid growth, and with it comes a once-in-a-generation investment in health. New hospitals, expanded facilities, digital transformation, and innovative models of care will redefine how health services are delivered across the region.
The Executive Director, Strategy, Planning and Engagement will be at the heart of this transformation. More than a strategist, you will turn plans into reality — securing investment, delivering major infrastructure projects, and embedding digital and workforce solutions that match the needs of Central Queenslanders today and into the future.
We are seeking a proven leader with the ability to influence at every level — from local communities and clinicians to state and national decision-makers. Someone with credibility in health, infrastructure, and planning who can deliver not only a vision, but real, tangible outcomes.
And outside of work? Central Queensland offers a lifestyle that balances impact with opportunity:
- Affordable housing and room to grow.
- Easy access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, national parks, and stunning coastline.
- A relaxed regional lifestyle with the amenities of larger centres.
- A welcoming community where your contribution makes a visible difference.
This is more than a leadership role. It is your opportunity to shape the future of health care for an entire region — and enjoy a lifestyle that's as rewarding as the work itself.
About us:
Central Queensland Health, the region's largest health employer, offers a rewarding career and a balanced lifestyle. Join a team of over 4,000 professionals providing quality public healthcare across our regional, rural, and remote facilities. We offer competitive benefits, stable employment, and flexible conditions, all while you enjoy the perks of living in Central Queensland—like 300 sunny days a year, short commutes, and a low cost of living.
About the role:
- Lead our strategy, service planning, commissioning, and engagement agenda.
- Integrate infrastructure, workforce, digital, and service planning into a cohesive future-focused strategy.
- Engage across local, state, and national health systems, including Queensland Health, other Hospital and Health Services, Commonwealth agencies, and primary care.
- Build strong partnerships with community, clinicians, and external stakeholders to align investment with community needs.
About you:
- You'll have proven experience in successfully managing and executing major health capital projects or health service planning.
- You'll have a proven track record of successfully commissioning new services, from initial design to safe and effective implementation, within a healthcare or similar complex environment.
- You must be able to influence decision-making and build strong, credible relationships at a senior level.
- You're skilled at balancing daily operational demands with long-term improvement initiatives, demonstrating flexibility and a clear focus on priority setting.
- You have exceptional writing skills with a proven ability to produce high-quality reports and clear, effective communications for a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams
