Gympie State High School and One Mile State School are seeking a passionate and people-focused Community Education Counsellor (Identified) to support First Nations students and their families. This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.8FTE), 58 hours per fortnight.

Step Into Your Next Chapter::

  • Provide support services to ensure that the best possible assistance / services are available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families and Communities.
  • Monitor student attendance and retention - data monitoring, phone calls home, home visits, student check-ins.
  • Maintain One School documentation and records management.
  • Assist students to overcome barriers with school engagement.
  • Participate in Enrolment, Re-entry, and Exclusion meetings where applicable.
  • Participate in the planning of activities to enhance student involvement in education.
  • Develop and deliver lunch-time activities as part of a proactive student wellbeing program.
  • Establish and maintain links with out of school sources of information and support services.
  • Provide information to the school community about Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural perspectives
