An exciting temporary opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Finance Advisor in the Business Performance Services (BPS) team. As Principal Finance Advisor, you will have a key role in the management of Queensland's Camera Detected Offence Program (CDOP) fund as part of the Queensland Road Safety (QRS) Program. You will be responsible for managing and critically analysing the financial performance and governance of the QRS Program. The role will have a particular focus on identifying opportunities to improve the maturity and effectiveness of financial management and reporting of projects, programs and portfolios. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Providing high level advice and guidance in relation to the financial management of the CDOP, including reporting on the financial position of the QRS Program to Boards and other Committees as required.
• Managing and reporting on CDOP revenue forecasting and modelling, and monitoring and managing the CDOP financial position for the QRS Program.
• Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in financial management and reporting across the QRS Program and projects. 
• Leading the tracking and reporting of the funding position and financial performance across individual initiatives, including supporting the QRS annual investment planning process and subsequent Cabinet Budget Review Committee submission for the QRS program. 

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

Highly desirable qualifications and conditions:
• Although not mandatory, possession of a degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in the areas of accounting, commerce or business administration is highly desirable and/or membership of a professional accounting body.
• Experience in financial reporting in the public sector, ensuring compliance in accordance with the relevant Australian Accounting Standards, statutory obligations, and Queensland Government reporting requirements. 
• Experience guiding, providing strategic direction and accounting advice on principles, frameworks and processes as they relate to internal and external financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, succinct and deliberate manner, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders.
