Parliamentary Services is seeking a motivated and digitally savvy Assistant Electorate Officer to join Cameron Dick MP, State Member for Woodridge, and play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the Woodridge electorate office. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful community work while developing your professional skills in a dynamic political setting.

Key Objectives

  • Media and Communications – including strategic social media management and content creation.
  • Provide exceptional secretarial, executive, and administrative support.
  • Foster strong relationships by supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups.

Your Role

  • Assist in the operation of the electorate office alongside the Electorate Officer.
  • Lead the office's social media strategy, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and community engagement.
  • Monitor online conversations and trends to inform proactive communication and rapid response.
  • Draft and publish posts, graphics, and videos that reflect the Member's priorities and community initiatives.
  • Contribute to media requests and responses as directed by the Electorate Officer and the Member.
  • Be the first point of contact for constituents seeking information and assistance.
  • Engage with community groups both directly and through established forums.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels in a professional setting, with a strong understanding of tone, timing, and audience engagement.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and basic video editing software.
  • Ability to interpret analytics and performance metrics to refine content strategy and boost reach.
  • Skilled in drafting media releases, newsletters, and digital content that is clear, compelling, and aligned with the Member's voice.
  • A proactive problem-solver, known for creativity, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised with a forward-thinking mindset, capable of juggling multiple priorities.
  • A solid grasp of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs is beneficial but not essential.
