About the Team:

The Cabinet Team is a small team and works closely with the Office of the Director-General, the Minister's Office and Ministerial and Executive Services more broadly. The Cabinet team engages regularly with officers within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Queensland Treasury, as well as other Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Officer (CLLO) teams across all departments.

About the Role:

This position is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in policy and government and would be interested in growing their skills in Cabinet and Executive Council processes. The role is a mix of fast-pace tasks, responding to urgent and emergent tasks that arise, as well as independently managing longer term projects.  Additional benefits include:

Responsibilities Include:

As the Senior Cabinet Officer, you role includes:

  • Coordinating activities associated with the weekly Cabinet submission review and briefing;
  • Coordinating and critically examining Cabinet briefing materials (including Discussion Papers), Policy Submissions, Significant Appointment material, Executive Council Minutes and other documentation for the Minister and Director-General; and
  • Reviewing and facilitating consultation of Cabinet and Executive Council documents to ensure successful progression through to the Director-General and Minister, and through associated processes (e.g. Cabinet and Executive Council).

About You:

Applicants don't necessarily need experience in Cabinet, however, we are looking for someone with:

  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently is important.
