High Risk Team Officer
Frontline Victim Support Services Unit; Victim Assist Queensland; Victim Support; Cairns
As a High Risk Team Officer, you are responsible for participating in state wide High Risk Teams (HRTs), through information sharing, safety assessments, planning, and engagement with the greater Integrated Service Response and Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) service sector.
You will deliver trauma informed, high quality and
timely responses to high risk DFV victims who apply for financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (VOCCA) and build a thorough understanding of DFV dynamic and victims within Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ).

Key responsibilities
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Participate in HRTs to improve the safety and wellbeing of victims of DFV whilst adhering to the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and the DFV Information Sharing Guidelines.
• Undertake evidence-based decision making under VOCAA, to provide financial assistance to DFV victims.
• Effectively case-manage applications for financial assistance from victims of DFV, including accurate record-keeping and undertaking delegated tasks where required.
• Consult and collaborate with government and non-government agencies to develop an awareness about the services offered by Victim Assist and how clients can access assistance.
• Build and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including government and non-government organisations, to build
capacity in the completion of financial assistance applications and services provided by Victim Assist.
• Build capacity within Victim Assist to respond empathetically and effectively to victims of DFV, including promoting the rights and needs of victims of DFV and the range services available to them.
• Identify and implement ways to continually improve services, though sharing and seeking creative ideas, suggestions and data to inform the effective delivery of services.
• Participate in stakeholder networks and meetings to promote the effective work of HRTs.
