The role:
As a Principal Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the initiation, planning and successful completion of ICT projects in line with Queensland Health project management methodologies. Potentially managing several in-flight projects simultaneously, you will deliver successful projects within agreed timeframes, budget, and quality standards.
Reporting to the Delivery Director, and working under the supervision of Project Managers, the Principal Project Manager will support and coordinate the delivery of work packages and projects, ensuring solutions delivered are responsive to customer needs and sustainable in an enterprise environment, while ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with best practice guidelines and the Queensland Health formal project management approach and methodologies, to enable the achievement of consistent and quality project outcomes.
Queensland Health is currently undertaking several of the largest health ICT programs and projects ever seen in Australia. The largest of these, the Digital Hospital Program (DHP) is a visionary program which continues to enable clinical services and enhance our technological capability by extending the availability of the ieMR into more hospitals and community care venues.
You will ensure performance against project plans and budgets is met. Additionally, you will enable informed decision making on project issues by developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, presentations, and information papers for project stakeholders.

We are seeking candidates with high level leadership skills and the ability to translate business requirements into achievable deliverables. To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in the delivery of IM/ICT projects, preferably in the health care industry. You will possess a high level of expertise and knowledge of appropriate project management methodologies, preferably PRINCE2, and the ability to provide expert advice on the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools.
An understanding of the operational environment within hospitals and the role that ICT plays to support them is desirable.
Proven experience in the implementation, configuration, testing and deployment of clinical applications and system integration in health care facilities will be highly regarded.
You will require high level interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and communication skills to create a strong client focus. Proven ability to lead and manage multiple multi-disciplinary project teams will be an essential requirement in this role. To be successful in this role you will utilise your abilities to work in a team environment and develop effective working relationships with stakeholders.
State-wide travel is a requirement of this role. A class C driver's license is essential to apply.
