Operating from within the Water Planning and Science team in South Region, you will be leading the development of innovative water planning and policy solutions and advice on the South-East Queensland water plans. You will deliver key projects including the review and replacement of water plans and the associated statutory instruments. In addition, you may input into Queensland’s commitments under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan 2012 and related programs and initiatives as required.

The Role:
Operating from within the Water Planning and Science team in South Region, you will be leading the development of innovative water planning and policy solutions and advice on the South-East Queensland water plans. You will deliver key projects including the review and replacement of the Gold Coast, Logan Basin and Moreton water plans and the associated statutory instruments. In addition, you may input into Queensland's commitments under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan 2012 and related programs and initiatives as required.

Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage the provision of high level, expert and authoritative advice to senior management on complex water planning issues and recommend policy initiatives that promote the optimal and sustainable development of Queensland's resources.
- Lead and manage consultation and negotiations with industry stakeholders on complex and contentious issues relating to Queensland's resources.
- Manage the delivery of priority government projects to meet departmental and broader government objectives in a timely manner.
- Oversee the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence for consideration by senior management and executive management.
- Build and manage positive working relationships and partnerships with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on Government commitments.
- Ensure a culture of service delivery and high performance that recognises the unique contribution of the individual, encourages personal and team development and encourages an appropriate work/life balance.
- Manage, mentor, coach and train staff in their development to ensure the necessary skills and motivation exist to respond to service delivery requirements and perform to a high level of skill and expertise.

About You:
You have strong project management experience and a proven ability to lead people and manage performance effectively. You understand legislative processes and have experience in policy development, complemented by strong stakeholder management skills. Highly organised and an effective leader, you demonstrate reflective emotional intelligence in your approach to challenges and decision-making.
