Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.

Within the context of the role responsibilities described above under “About the role', the ideal applicant will be someone who can competitively demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experiences and their suitability against the Leadership competencies for Queensland (Team Leader): Vision, Results and Accountability in the context of the essential requirements for this role.
The essential requirements for this role are:
- High level of knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, trends and practices
- Ability to apply and interpret legislation, policy and procedures
- Experience or exposure to operational practice within a correctional context
- Experience in monitoring and reviewing service provision to deliver outcomes against agreed targets
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including high level interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate successful outcomes
- Understanding and application of education, cultural, re-entry and other service models and techniques
- Understanding and experience in the application of offender intervention and rehabilitation models and techniques (where the role oversees internal program delivery)
- Skills and experience in the preparation of reports and complex written documentation within a structured framework that is guided by legislation and procedures on highly confidential matters
- Organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlines
- Research and analytical skills for investigating issues and analysing trends associated with the management of prisoners transitioning to the community
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with senior management, staff and internal and external stakeholders, to gain commitments and negotiate service delivery, priorities, deadlines, resources and other relevant issues
Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements:
- Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications in the field of psychology, education or behavioural science would be highly regarded.
