The purpose of this role is to lead the review of systems, processes and strategies and where required, the development, implementation and evaluation of new approaches to improve statewide clinical governance functions and support clinical excellence within Hospital and Health Services.
The Director Clinical Governance will provide:
- Leadership and supervision to the Assurance Team (1 x AO8, 3 x AO7s and 1 x NG7), Patient Safety and Quality Branch,
- Strategic, expert advice and support on relevant aspects of clinical governance to
a. Hospital and Health Services, and
b. the Executive Director Patient Safety and Quality
About you
- Demonstrated competence in the provision of strategic leadership and expert advice on all aspects of clinical governance at a senior level to respond to Health Service and System wide challenges,
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and ability to analyse concepts and strategies and high level conceptual and problem-solving ability to analyse evidence, and to provide advice on statewide policies, strategies and innovative solutions with respect to clinical governance activities.
- Highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, negotiation, consultation and communication skills to deal with the needs and concerns of internal stakeholders and health service partners, including the ability to manage people and situations flexibly and responsively, ability to represent PSQ, Clinical Excellence Queensland and Queensland Health at a senior level and to manage client and stakeholder relations.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver agreed outputs and manage complex issues through the coordination and management of project teams, consultants and other resources.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a nurse. Extensive post registration clinical experience.
Mandatory qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant, eligible Health Practitioner Profession and be eligible for registration/ membership with the relevant registration board and/or professional body.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of employment.
- Experience in leadership in the areas of clinical governance is highly valued for this role.
- While not mandatory, a relevant post graduate qualification would be well regarded.
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16):
- measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- varicella (chicken pox)
- pertussis (whooping cough)
- hepatitis B
- tuberculosis
