Accommodation Officer

The Mackay Whitsunday District Accommodation Officer is responsible for managing a diverse and geographically dispersed housing portfolio compromising approximately 60 properties, inclusive of barrack, multi-tenancy, and short-term accommodation.
These properties house operational police across the district, spanning from St Lawrence in the south to Bowen in the north, west to Clermont and east to the Whitsunday Islands, with majority of the properties located in country areas. This position involves travel to these locations as required.

This role involves oversight of tenancy arrangements, completing property inspections, compliance with financial deductions, coordination with QBuild and internal and external stakeholders, processing financial transactions and strategic planning to address housing shortfalls and maintenance backlogs.
The officer also supports the delivery of facility management services including the identification and reporting of maintenance issues to ensure timely resolution and continuity of service.
As a part of this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring housing and facility availability aligns with the workforce wellbeing and operational readiness across the district.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Support the delivery of facility and accommodation management services, including identification and reporting of maintenance issues.
• Assist with the management, monitoring, and reporting of minor works projects to ensure quality outcomes are achieved.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on housing and accommodation matters, ensuring consistent communication, timely responses, and effective service delivery.
• Contribute to forward maintenance, accommodation and housing tenancy management and planning, including emerging issues and future needs.
• Process invoices, purchase orders, and financial transactions in SAP, including the preparation and processing of payments, accounts payable invoices, journals, financial settlements, and other finance related activities.
• Assist in the preparation of submissions, reports, briefings, and correspondence relating to housing and accommodation matters, including updating records and registers to ensure property data is maintained.
• Liaise with private sector and government department authorities on property, facilities and housing management matters.
• Identify opportunities for improving accommodation and housing management processes, systems and services to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
