Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a real difference?
Join DETSI and play a pivotal role in delivering Queensland's Waste Strategy.

As a Principal Policy Officer, you'll lead innovative policy initiatives that reduce waste, boost recycling, and create economic opportunities in the resource recovery sector. A key focus of this role is supporting reforms to the Container Refund Scheme (CRS), ensuring it continues to reduce litter and improve recycling outcomes. You'll analyse recommendations from the parliamentary inquiry and collaborate with stakeholders to implement meaningful reforms. Beyond the CRS, you'll contribute to broader waste management programs, including reducing plastic pollution, enhancing organics management, and recovering valuable resources.

In this dynamic role, you'll lead programs of work, provide strategic advice to senior management, and build strong partnerships across government, industry and community sectors. You'll also engage with stakeholders to advance Queensland's waste reduction priorities and oversee the implementation of key initiatives.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a passionate leader with:
- Expertise in providing high-level policy advice and developing innovative solutions.
- Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide a high-performing team.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders and present complex ideas clearly.
- A commitment to workplace equity, diversity, and fostering a culture of respect and inclusion.

Why Join Us?
At DETSI, we value equity, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a workplace culture that respects and promotes human rights.
We are committed to:
- Supporting professional growth and a healthy work-life balance.
- Partnering with First Nations people to deliver better outcomes for all Queenslanders.
- Being an accredited White Ribbon Workplace, committed to preventing domestic and family violence and supporting affected employees.

If you're ready to drive meaningful change and contribute to Queensland's sustainable future, we'd love to hear from you.
