The Principal Planner will apply project management expertise and specialist transport planning knowledge to lead and support the delivery of major multi-modal transport planning projects in Queensland in accordance with TMR's OnQ Framework, Queensland Treasury's Project Assurance Framework (PAF), and Infrastructure Australia's requirements.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
•Lead and support the delivery of major planning projects, including those identified in the Queensland Government's 2032 Delivery Plan.
•Provide specialist advice, information and recommendations relating to multi-modal transport planning projects to ensure project outcomes are fit for purpose, deliver the intended benefits, align with network objectives, and requirements and are supported by key stakeholders.
•Build relationships and work successfully with key stakeholders, both internal and external to TMR (including TMR regions, Translink and local governments), to ensure good transport planning outcomes are achieved for the transport network. Managing major project interfaces with other related planning projects (led by others) is critical to this role.
•Provide support to your Manager including a range of ad-hoc tasks such as project reporting and cash flows, project briefings, responding to incoming correspondence, and preparing/providing technical presentations to stakeholders.
•Creating a positive working environment for a high performing team driven towards improving customer outcomes and delivering high quality outputs to all stakeholders.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Project Management
•Experience in managing and delivering complex transport planning infrastructure projects.
•Demonstrated ability to deliver multi-modal transport planning outcomes that balance competing corridor modal priorities.
Technical Specialist
•Strong technical experience in delivering major multi-modal transport planning projects through PAF or OnQ frameworks.
•Technical expertise in one or more of the following: transport modelling, bus network development, corridor travel metric assessments, benefit identification, public and active transport infrastructure planning and operations, complex option development and assessment, and movement and place principles.
•Qualifications in planning or engineering, with a minimum of five years relevant project and/or technical experience, are highly regarded.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
•Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders and foster collaboration. This can include leading project workshops and stakeholder meetings and managing interfaces with other related planning projects and stakeholders.
•Strong written communication skills, including high-quality report writing and contributing to OnQ and PAF documentation.
Problem Solver
•Ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and devise effective strategies to achieve project objectives.
