Nambour Special School is seeking a motivated and dependable Schools Officer (Grounds and Facilities) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the school’s grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard. Your work will directly support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and wider school community.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.4 FTE), working 30.4 hours per fortnight across Thursdays and Fridays.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Nambour Special School is located in the township of Burnside on the Sunshine Coast. The school is set on approximately 6 acres of land on Windsor Road providing a spacious, rural outlook. Nambour Special School delivers high quality education for students with an Intellectual Disability, in a safe and supportive environment. Step Into Your Next Chapter:

  • Responsible for a range of day to day activities that may include delivering and collecting mail, parcels and documents; recording and delivering of messages; printing and photocopying; preparing classrooms for examinations and preparing activity/assembly halls, including moving/arranging furniture and seating; removing and relocating furniture from room to room; general store duties including receipting, opening up, checking, storing and distributing school supplies and stocks; maintaining various registers; and stocktaking and recording/engraving of school equipment/furniture and assets.
  • Support a variety of security duties at the school that involve using and maintaining the school security systems; banking of school funds (this does not refer to the collection, receipt, or reconciliation of funds, but rather to the transport and depositing of funds at the appropriate banking institution); and locking and unlocking buildings (within core hours).
  • Assist with a range of duties that include clearing and hosing of drains and gutters; collection of waste, food and paper on school grounds as agreed by relevant staff and the Principal, Business Manager and/or nominated delegate; undertaking immediate action cleaning duties (outside the normal operating hours of the school's cleaning staff); coordinating the removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required (does not include emptying of bins in agreed eating areas); assist with requirements for significant events such as fetes, plays and major sporting events.
