The Research Unit at Townsville University Hospital are seeking experienced and outcome driven Clinical Nurses to undertake the role of a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Protecting skin from DEvice harm across the liFEspan iN Critical illnEss: The DEFENCE project.

This is a temporary part-time role, up to 13.5 months, with a possibility of an additional 12 months extension.

PLEASE NOTE: There are two (2) positions available, each working 64 hours per fortnight.

About the opportunity 

The Clinical Nurse - Clinical Research Coordinator is an advanced clinical based role for a registered nurse/midwife to support the set-up, conduct and management of research within Townsville Hospital and Health Service. This position requires complex, problem-solving skills, expert planning, and coordination skills in the clinical management of patients with complex care needs. The Study title is: Protecting skin from DEvice harm across the liFEspan iN Critical illnEss: The DEFENCE project.

The key objectives of the Clinical Nurse - Clinical Research Coordinator position are to support the establishment and delivery of research projects to gather high quality clinical research data and maintain optimum health care to research participants, in accordance with the National Health Medical and Research Council (NHMRC), Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (GCP) and the International Committee of Harmonisation (ICH). The project aims to reduce medical device-related pressure injuries in critically ill patients in intensive care through targeted, evidenced based interventions.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (NG6-1)
  • 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading
  • Professional Development leave
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in clinical care or research
    • Research or clinical trial coordination experience.
    • Current clinical experience in ICU, NICU or PICU.
  • GCP – Good Clinical Practice certification, or willingness to acquire within 1 month of commencing.
  • The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
  • This is a VPD risk role.
