Salary: $118,064 - $126,071 p.a. + super

Lead strategic HR and finance operations at the heart of transformational change. Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) is seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior Adviser (Finance & HR) to join the Office of the Assistant Commissioner within the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations (CCSO) Project Delivery Command. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-impact reform across Queensland's correctional system.

QCS delivers modern, evidence-based correctional services focused on rehabilitation and crime prevention. The CCSO division oversees community-based offender supervision and specialist services and is currently undergoing significant transformation.

The CCSO Project Delivery Command (PDC) drives strategic initiatives across the division. As Senior Adviser, you'll work closely with the Assistant Commissioner and senior leaders to ensure the effective delivery of HR, finance, procurement, and business support services.

About the Role

You will lead and coordinate business support services, including:

  • Providing expert advice on HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, employee relations, WHS, and workforce planning.
  • Developing and implementing workforce strategies that foster a performance culture.
  • Managing financial operations including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and end-of-month/year processes.
  • Supporting procurement activities and liaising with internal partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Maintaining quality assurance systems and analysing HR and finance data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Administering databases and records related to HR, finance, and procurement.
  • Leading WHS and rehabilitation/return-to-work activities across the command.
  • Supporting staff training in financial systems and processes.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery.

About You

You are a strategic thinker and experienced adviser with a strong background in HR and finance. You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in HR/WHS roles, including establishment management and workforce planning.
  • Knowledge of financial management practices and the ability to apply them to improve outcomes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, resources, and change initiatives.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to drive business improvement.
  • Experience preparing reports and submissions on complex matters.
  • Ability to apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Qualifications in HR, finance, or commerce are highly desirable.
