Rockhampton Emergency Department is seeking enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our team! With an average of 140 patients every 24 hours, you’ll gain experience across a diverse range of clinical presentations.


Permanent RN’s can take advantage of our ED Transition Program, earning professional development points while receiving strong support from Nurse Educators to develop and achieve Emergency Department competencies. We welcome applicants with existing ALS and triage qualifications. Rockhampton is ideally located near the stunning Capricorn Coast, the gateway to Great Keppel Island – a tropical paradise.

This role includes temporary accommodation and relocation assistance for eligible applicants (conditions apply).

About us:

The Emergency Department is a fast-paced, dynamic environment providing care for both adult and paediatric patients. It features 25 acute treatment areas, 3 resuscitation bays, triage and Queensland Ambulance Service assessment zones, as well as a Fast-Track area for less acute cases. The department also manages a 12-bed Short Stay Unit.

On average, the ED treats around 140 patients every 24 hours, handling a wide range of clinical presentations and serving a culturally diverse community. As a referral centre for Central Queensland, the department manages a significant number of critically unwell and trauma patients, working closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to deliver high-level care.

About the role:

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will provide safe, evidence-based, and patient-focused care, contributing to the efficient operation of the department through effective teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting. You will utilise strong interpersonal and communication skills to support professional practice, including delegating and supervising Enrolled Nurses and nursing students. The role requires the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients and to actively engage in quality improvement and research initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and current annual practicing certificate.
  • Advance Life Saving and Triage competencies highly desirable

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $121,106 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $41.73 - $53.53 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
