In the role of Human Resource Officer, you will assist the Human Resource (HR) team to maintain an effective advisory and support service to the regional management team and employees of Service Centre Operations, Southern Region.

You will undertake a variety of HR operational and procedural activities in accordance with policy and legislative framework.

Former Customer Services Branch -TMR

This position is part of the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. CDSB is currently in negotiations for a certified agreement to cover all CDSB employees. In the meantime, the TMR Agreement conditions apply to this position.

As the Human Resources Officer you will:

  • Provide advice and support to management and employees across the full range of HR management functions.
  • Research and analyse information for the development and implementation of policies and strategies on HR management projects and issues.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Principal Human Resources Advisor with case management matters including investigation, discipline, rehabilitation and return to work, voluntary medical retirement, and independent medical assessments.
  • Process paperwork in a timely manner and liaise with internal and external stakeholders on HR matters for Southern Region.
  • Liaise with team members to ensure effective and efficient administrative HR operations.
  • Proactively identify HR management issues impacting in the workplace, undertake research, analysis and provide feedback and options targeted at improving work practices.
  • Prepare correspondence, submissions and briefing notes on a range of HR related issues.
  • Use SAP to collate, analyse and manage HR data providing information to the Principal Human Resources Advisor and Regional Management Team.
  • Monitor and maintain establishment data, and other employee records.
  • Participate and provide support and advice to recruitment and selection panels and assist with paperwork for vacancies and appointments.
  • The duties listed above are indicative duties and not intended to be comprehensive. Duties may vary from time to time. You may be required to perform a range of tasks that are outside your main list of duties, but are within the limits of  your skill, competence and training, or are incidental and peripheral to your main duties

This position reports to the Principal Human Resource Advisor.
