Role details

The Research Support Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Service Improvement Fellow to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

The position will provide supervision, training, education, mentoring and assistance to MHHS employees and to research students for research activities and service improvement projects, to build research capacity and capability. This position will support the development of research questions and proposals, developing grant funding applications, ethics applications, data collection and cleaning, statistical analysis and academic writing.

About the Team

Mackay Institute of Research and Innovation (MIRI) is an emerging health service-led translational research and innovation centre; a collaboration between Mackay Hospital and Health Service (HHS). The core functions of the Institute are:

  • leading cutting edge translational research and innovation
  • implementing evidence-based practice into patient care
  • implementing innovations that improve productivity and safety
  • supporting clinicians to undertake in research in areas of strategic interest
  • leading the Tropical North in Occupational Health and Safety Research
  • supporting the development of the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
