You will provide clinical support to clients of the Prison Mental Health Service to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes for this complex group. In addition, this position liaises with all relevant clinical and non-clinical stakeholders within the correctional environment as well as with non-clinical support workers in the community to coordinate a holistic approach to recovery and wellbeing with a particular focus on the transition phase surrounding release from custody.

About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health – Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides specialist mental health, substance and alcohol related care to the residents of Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands & Banana areas (catchments in excess of a population of 250,000) with services located in each area. Rockhampton is the principal service centre and as such provides the administration of the Mental Health Act, 2016, in addition being the location of Acute Adult Inpatient facilities and an Adult Community Care Unit.

About the role:

As a Senior Clinician, successful applicants will be required to provide training, mentoring and support for less experienced clinicians in the Forensic Services Team. They may also be required to undertake other clinical duties as per the direction of the Team Manager.

The Prison Mental Health Service is supported by the Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service (QFMHS), which is led by the Director and Operations Manager, QFMHS, (based in the Metro North) with the support of the Service Managers and six state-wide positions, coordinating CLS, PMHS, the Forensic Liaison Officer Network, Indigenous Forensic Mental Health, Classified Patients, and Community Risk Management.

About you:

Hold qualifications and registration with the appropriate registration authority to practice in any of the following:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Social Work (+ Working with Children Clearance)
  • Registered Nurse

While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
