Cloncurry is a Multipurpose Health Service, has 15 acute care beds, 10 Aged Care beds Community Health Centre, X-Ray department and Pharmacy. Visiting services include Child Health, and Immunisations, working closely with Central West Queensland Medicare Local, Centacare and Blue Care. A range of visiting specialists include Paediatrician, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, General Surgeon, Woman's Health Nurse, Renal Nurse Practitioner.

About the role

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) assists and supports the Registered Nurse (RN) in the provision of direct/indirect person-centred care within Cloncurry Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPHS) as required. The AIN is responsible for providing nursing care in a professional, safe, and compassionate manner as a member of Cloncurry MPHS healthcare team according to their education and competence.

  • Responsible for accepting delegated tasks/duties which require basic skills, training, and experience.
  • Gather information about patient care needs by observing the patient and reporting to the RN to assist the RN to assess, plan and evaluate care.
  • Complete other unit duties including the maintenance of clinical stores, restocking, equipment checking and maintenance, effective use of resources, maintaining clean patient environment, clerical and specific tasks directed by RN's and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) as required.

Requirements

  • A Certificate III relevant to the clinical area is highly regarded.
  • This position is required to undertake shift work covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
  • The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks / Aged Care Check.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
