Rangers ensure that Queensland’s national parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all Queenslanders.
This role’s focus area is leading a team of rangers responsible for the day-to-day management of parks and forests within the Carnarvon North area. Whilst the successful applicant will be involved in general operational ranger activities, priority will be given to coordinating and overseeing day-to-day management activities and strategic projects. Experience in staff supervision, leadership, bushfire response, planned burn operations, natural resource management, visitor management and working in remote locations is highly sought after. The Ideal Candidate:
· Demonstrates a strong passion for conservation and land management.
· Actively participates in prescribed burning, fuel reduction, and bushfire management activities.
· Leads and manages a team to successfully deliver work plans, initiatives, and outcomes.
· Oversees the development of annual work programs for recreational and infrastructure maintenance and development, including resource acquisition and allocation within budget constraints.
· Builds and maintains productive relationships with stakeholders, including neighbouring landholders, other government departments, industry groups, recreational user groups, and Traditional Owners.
· Displays excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
· Demonstrates the ability to mentor, support, and share skills with a diverse group of individuals.
