About the work unit / facility
The Vascular Surgery Unit at Townsville University Hospital is a high-performing team within the Surgical Service Group. With over 700 procedures annually, the unit offers advanced open and endovascular interventions, supported by a vascular laboratory, duplex imaging, and outreach services to Mackay. The team includes specialists, registrars, RMOs, and academic staff, fostering a collaborative and research-driven environment.

Competitive salary and benefits
- Salary between $65.35 – $75.77 per hour (PHO L4–L7 / Registrar L4–L9).
- 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity
This unique dual-role offers a blend of clinical practice and academic research. You will contribute to vascular surgery services including outpatient clinics, theatre, and angiography, while leading research projects in collaboration with James Cook University. The role includes teaching, ethics submissions, data analysis, and presenting at national conferences.
Requirements
- Accepted into a recognised vocational college training program relevant to the specialty.
- If not accepted into a training program, appointment will be at PHO level only.
- Evidence of vaccination or immunity to VPDs including Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Proof of qualification and registration with the appropriate authority.
- A probationary period may apply.
