The role:

The role is with the ieMR Enterprise Data Replication Implementation Project, based within the Delivery Office.

This high-priority project is focused on ensuring the continuity of near real-time data replication from Queensland Health's integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR) system. It will deliver a modern, resilient change data capture and replication solution, safeguarding the availability of critical data for downstream systems and statewide reporting services.

The project requires a Senior Operations Specialist to lead the successful delivery of operational and technical outcomes, aligned with Queensland Health's ICT governance and the ITIL Service Management framework. The role will be instrumental in supporting the implementation of high-availability, enterprise-grade data replication services, with a focus on delivering and maintaining systems using:

  • Oracle Database
  • Enterprise data replication tools (e.g. Oracle GoldenGate)
  • Enterprise Linux

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide advice, assistance and leadership associated with the planning, design and improvement of service and component availability, including the investigation of all breaches of availability targets and service non-availability, with the instigation of remedial activities.
  • ensuring operational readiness, defining and documenting support processes, and leading the smooth transition of services into ongoing support to enable sustainable service delivery post-implementation.
  • Provide technical leadership and high-level technical skills in the analysis of ICT system issues and the formulation, design and provision of appropriate solutions and improvements.
  • Manage activities and priorities across organisational boundaries to meet defined service levels in a customer focused ICT service environment.

Are you right for this role?

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a proven ability to meet service delivery targets and implement measurable service improvements by effectively managing workloads, setting priorities, and working independently with minimal supervision. You will also possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, provide expert advice, and foster collaboration across teams. In addition, you will have a track record of developing and promoting ITIL Service Management processes.

You will have extensive experience in:

  • Delivering and maintaining systems using:
    • Oracle Database
    • Enterprise data replication tools (e.g. Oracle GoldenGate)
    • Enterprise Linux or Unix operating systems (e.g. Oracle Enterprise Linux, RHEL, Solaris)
  • Administrative scripting experience in tools such as Bash, KSH, Python, or Perl will be highly regarded.
