The position of Occupational Therapist will deliver competent occupational therapy services as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to optimise psycho-social outcomes for young people who present with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders requiring medium term treatment, and their families and carers. This position delivers discipline specific assessments and interventions, therapeutic group interventions, and fulfills case management responsibilities as a Recovery Facilitator for young people, their families and carers during their episode of care at Jacaranda Place Adolescent Inpatient Unit.

About the Team

Jacaranda Place – Queensland Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre (QAETC) is a purpose built 12 bed state-wide extended treatment inpatient unit and co-located day program, governed, and operated by CHQ on the grounds of The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane.  Jacaranda Place delivers safe and responsive mental health care that effectively supports and enhances the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged between 13-18 years of age, with consideration of extending to 21 years of age, based on a young person's developmental age.

About the Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

• Deliver competent clinical services in accordance with the discipline specific Code of Ethics and the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce.
• Provision of routine clinical occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment and case management to young people with severe and complex mental health problems, and their carer networks, in acute settings.
• Ability to demonstrate recovery focused advocacy regarding the mental health needs of service consumers, their carers and relevant stakeholders.
