We are seeking a dedicated Project Officer (Bee Biosecurity) to join our team at Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity.
In this role you will:
• Responsible for delivering Queensland’s component of the National Bee Biosecurity Program.
• Contribute to building capacity and knowledge of beekeepers to manage pests and biosecurity in their apiaries
• Promote the Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice.

Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity (PBPI) - The PBPI Program has an integral role in delivering BQ's vision of leading the delivery of innovative, customer focused biosecurity services for Queensland. The Program's goal is to protect Queensland's agricultural industries, environment and communities from plant pests and diseases, and facilitate trade in high quality, safe agricultural products.
As the Project Officer (Bee Biosecurity), you will be involved in delivering the National Bee Biosecurity Program in Queensland and providing advice to beekeepers on best practice management of established bee pests and early detection of exotic bee pests.
Key activities include:
• promoting and monitoring implementation of the Australian Honeybee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice,
• increasing the awareness and knowledge of exotic and established bee biosecurity threats,
• promoting, and facilitating biosecurity best practice through well-timed and wellcrafted communication and education campaigns across multiple channels.
• participating in emergency responses as needed.
You will also liaise with the Queensland Bee Biosecurity Program State Advisory Group and Bee Biosecurity Officers in other states and territories to discuss specific issues, areas of work focus for the program and regular reporting.
It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
