The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Mental Health - Acute Care Team) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Provide provision of care delivery in a variety of hospital and community settings
• Apply professional knowledge and skills in clinical decision making under the practice supervision
• Contribute to the clinical education of students and other less experienced staff in consultation with the support of senior clinical staff
• Provide comprehensive care to consumers with an acute mental health issue

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• A graduate certificate or greater within a relevant specialty area is highly desirable
• Credentialed through the College of Mental Health (or prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
• Drivers Licence
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent full time, permanent part time, temporary full time, temporary part-time (several positions, hrs negotiable)
• Base salary ranging from $107 960 - $115 604 per annum, $4138.10 - $4431.10 per fortnight, $54.44 - $58.30 per hour

About Us

The Gold Coast Acute Community Mental Health (ACMH) services provide 24 hour, 7 day a week specialist mental health care service. This includes: the first point of contact for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) Mental Health Service to provide education, support, information, advice and referral. Telephone triage, crisis intervention, clinical assessment-in reach into emergency departments and community via Co-responder teams, screening admissions to public mental health inpatient services.

Facilitating the most appropriate type of care for the consumer. Mobile assertive outreach crisis response team that offers a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs in the community which may also include acute care in the immediate post discharge phase of an inpatient admission. Alternative for presentations to Emergency-Crisis Stabilisation unit provides consumers presenting with a mental health, alcohol and/or drug crisis/illness a safe, supportive environment for acute mental health assessment, treatment, and management.
