Gold Coast Health is seeking experienced Senior Social Workers to join our Acute and Subacute teams. Roles are available in Voluntary Assisted Dying (GCUH), Emergency Department (Robina), and Acute/Subacute Adult services. You'll work closely with patients, families, and clinical teams to provide responsive, evidence based care that supports psychosocial wellbeing and improves health outcomes.

Salary
- Permanent and temporary part-time and full-time roles available (temporary roles are up to 6 months, with possibility of extension)
- Base salary ranging from $128 169 - $137 918 per annum or $64.64 - $69.55 per hour
About Your New Team
Social Work services are delivered across all clinical directorates at Gold Coast University Hospital, Robina Hospital, and Tugun Satellite Health Centre. You'll be part of a team led by Assistant Directors of Social Work and supported by advanced practitioners in NDIS, DFV, aged care, child protection, and sexual assault. The service is known for its commitment to education, supervision, and clinical excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Social Worker, you will:
- Deliver services in acute, subacute, and health clinical areas
- Assess complex psychosocial needs and apply clinical risk frameworks
- Advocate for patients and families using advanced communication and consultation skills
- Manage complex caseloads with independent clinical judgement
- Contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives
- Provide expert advice to supervisors, managers, and stakeholders
- Collaborate across disciplines to achieve optimal patient outcomes
What You'll Need
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW
- Demonstrated experience in acute or subacute health settings
- Blue card / QLD Working with children check
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (paid by GCH)
