About us:

Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to Prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) including workcamps.  COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1300 male Prisoners within CCC and CCF.

The CCC receives and transitions Prisoners on release from and to geographical locations north to Mackay; south to Gladstone, east to Capricorn Coast; and west to Central Highlands. COHS provides clinical services within the correctional centre, which is unique to other clinical services, in that, COHS provides services within a structured day and security function of CCC.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership, management, and clinical expertise relevant to the care of male Prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Centre and in the community setting for eligible Prisoners post release. The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) works in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Educator and other COHS Senior Leadership Members to support the clinical Prisoner health service in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice in correctional nursing.

The NUM will work in partnership partner with Queensland Corrective Services and other external government and non-government community-based service providers/agencies to deliver an integrated correctional centre primary care service, health and wellbeing programs, and community-based transition care services. Furthermore, partner with CQHHS in-reach services such as Prison Mental Health; Oral Health services; Allied Health professionals; and the acute and emergency care service in providing care to Prisoners.

About you:

Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

A relevant postgraduate diploma or master's degree or working towards this will be highly regarded. 

  • Experience in correctional nursing is desirable.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $13,684 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
