Permanent full-time and part-time (up to 38 hours per fortnight).
Working with us
- for 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,500. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$10,500… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,000 (pro rata for part time employees).
- 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.
- New Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners to Queensland Health may be eligible for an Incentive payment of up to $5,000 after 12 months (pro rata for part time employees).
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
- Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.

About the role
We're seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional passionate about bringing their lived experience into practice.
Make a meaningful impact by providing expert professional and cultural leadership across Burketown and surrounding First Nation communities. As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner, you'll deliver and coordinate high quality, patient and family centered care, ensuring safety every step of the way. This role involves partnering closely with women and their families, providing compassionate antenatal care as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team dedicated to empowering First Nations women throughout their pregnancy journey.
Requirements
- It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders.
- Successfully completed a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) and a Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health.
- Holds current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner with AHPRA.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
