Through partnerships, Social and Affordable Housing Growth provides and influences the provision of safe, secure, affordable and appropriate housing to the people of Queensland, and the building of vibrant and connected precincts and communities in which they live. We influence, plan, design, procure and contract the delivery of contemporary housing solutions that meet the needs of our clients, reflect local community needs, and support jobs in regional Queensland. We maintain, upgrade and renew a housing portfolio of over 74,000 dwellings to ensure our tenants are safe, secure and in housing that continues to meet their needs. We are committed to the successful delivery of public housing and assisting Queenslanders who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
As Manager, Design Strategy, you will lead the development of design policy and strategies related to architectural and urban design for the Social and Affordable Housing Growth portfolio, including engaging with Council regarding master planning activities and overseeing Post Occupancy Evaluations.
What you will be doing:
- Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement related to design policy matters, including, but not limited to, the review of the Social Housing Design Guideline and associated technical documents.
- Drive the creation and review of contemporary design policy and strategic documents ensuring integration of design guidelines for social and affordable housing.
- Lead proactive engagement with local government to facilitate master planning, urban design and community scale design activities and act as the department's key representative in resolving complex design issues while fostering strong partnerships with councils.
- Oversee the implementation of tenant engagement and post-occupancy evaluation programs to drive continuous improvement.
- Use high level written, personal and graphical communication approaches and negotiation skills to resolve complex issues to a successful outcome, communicate with influence, and articulate the organisation's position with authority and credibility.
- Participate in and contribute to strategic decision-making by leading the team to prepare insightful, accurate and high-quality briefings, submissions and executive correspondence that support organisational goals and priorities.
- Provide clear direction, setting objectives, and formulating long-term plans to ensure the successful delivery of design-focused initiatives that meet operational and strategic goals.
- Combine high levels of discipline, expertise, creativity, and independent judgement to plan, organise, direct, and evaluate projects aligned with broader organisational objectives.
- Support and maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
