We’re seeking a leader for the Coastal & Islands Region’s Fire Team to oversee the delivery of the QPWS&P fire program. This role focuses on fire program planning, coordinating planned burns, bushfire preparedness and response, staff training and development, and ensuring governance and reporting standards are met. You’ll build and lead partnerships with the Queensland Fire Department, First Nations peoples, and key stakeholders, while representing QPWS&P in internal and external forums, including bushfire management groups.

This role will lead the Coastal & Islands Region's Fire Team. Regional Fire Teams provide direction and oversight for delivery of the QPWS&P fire program within the Region. The role is responsible for the key areas of fire program planning, planned burn coordination and oversight, bushfire preparedness and response, staff training, exercising and development, and fire program governance and reporting.
This role is responsible for developing and leading partnerships and collaborative efforts between QPWS&P and the Queensland Fire Department and supporting partnerships with First Nations peoples and relevant stakeholders, The role involves representing QPWS&P in various internal (Fire Governance Groups) and external forums, including leading QPWS&P participation in bushfire management groups.
This position requires the ability to lead and work as part of a team on individual and team-based projects in office and field environments, including remote areas.
