Guidance Officer - Frenchville State School

Frenchville State School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Guidance Officer to join our student support team. In this role you will work independently and collaboratively to deliver high quality services across Prep to Year 6. You will lead the coordination of school based and external support services with a focus on inclusive practices, behavioural needs, mental health support and psychometric assessments. This is a temporary full-time position commencing January 2026 until 18 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:

In this role, you will work closley with students, families and staff to provide expret advice, deliver proactive programs and fopster a safe and iclusive school environment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide counselling, assessment, and support: Deliver individual and group counselling, psychoeducational assessments, and tailored recommendations to support students' educational, behavioural, career, mental health, and family needs.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams: Work effectively with parents, school staff, and external agencies to deliver comprehensive case management, referral services, and support programs that promote student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Facilitate educational planning and intervention: Conduct assessments and observations to identify learning, developmental, and psychological needs, and assist in implementing appropriate interventions, adjustments, and individualised education or behaviour plans.
  • Promote student safety, development, and career pathways: Lead and contribute to student protection, behaviour support, gifted education, and career planning initiatives, including SET planning and transitions between educational settings.
  • Maintain professional standards and leadership: Uphold ethical and legal obligations regarding confidentiality and record keeping, participate in professional development, and provide leadership in responding to critical incidents and intensive behaviour support needs.
