Engineering and Technology (E&T) Branch provides technical expertise to support the department's innovative and value-for-money design and traffic management solutions that deliver road safety outcomes.
The Traffic Engineering Practice team provides expert/specialist advice to all stakeholders involved in passive traffic management and temporary traffic management and is responsible for developing & updating technical documents,
undertaking peer reviews of major project designs, registering passive traffic management products, and providing input to state and national related research and publications.
The Traffic Engineering Practice team is responsible for developing and maintaining technical standards related to passive traffic management. It provides expert advice to stakeholders within the traffic management industry & represents TMR in the development of national standards.

The role of the Principal Engineer (Traffic Engineering Practice) is to provide leadership support to the Traffic Engineering Practice team in the delivery of key elements of the Traffic Engineering work program and provide specialist technical expertise and advice to traffic engineering projects and to other professional and technical staff.
In the role of Principal Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from Nationally & Internationally recognised professionals within the Engineering & Technology Branch (E&T). You will lead a group of dedicated professionals and provide support to the delivery of key elements of the Traffic Engineering program. In addition, you will provide specialist technical expertise and advice for traffic
engineering and road safety projects and to other professional and technical staff to ensure successful delivery of the program within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
You will also have the opportunity to undertake research, review standards and policies, while liaising with relevant stakeholders in other specialist areas, ensuring consistency and best value is achieved for TMR to minimise the risk of potential future liability in the face of a continually changing operating environment.
