As the Director (External Affairs), you will lead and develop strategies that optimise the performance of multi-disciplinary media, social media and digital content teams to deliver efficient and effective external communication outcomes for business partners, industry and the public. In this role, you will support the Executive Director (Strategic Communication) to develop and lead integrated communication functional strategies that contribute to building and maintaining a positive workplace culture, elevating TMR's brand and achieving departmental business priorities and strategic objectives.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
• Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of external communication strategies and solutions that contribute to departmental business priorities.
• Lead TMR's corporate external affairs function to provide responsive products and services using contemporary and digital communication practices and platforms.
• Oversee the implementation and evaluation of whole of government communication and digital and social media policies and standards.
• Provide strategic expert advice to executives, stakeholders and other departmental representatives on complex external communication matters.
• Lead and manage the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to create and sustain a safe and healthy workplace culture, optimise resource investment and performance and deliver efficient and effective customer-centric products and services.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• A criminal history check will be completed on the recommended applicant for this role.
• A Bachelor's degree in journalism, digital journalism, corporate affairs or similar, higher qualification.
Requirements of the role
• Five years of relevant experience working in digital, media, public relations, corporate affairs or external communication environments will be highly desirable.
• Experience leading media or similar external communication functions to deliver persuasive content for a digital environment.
• Experience planning, leading and evaluating innovative functional business development and team performance strategies.
• Experience planning, leading and evaluating functional workplace culture and well-being initiatives and programs.
• Experience leading and managing organisational crisis and disaster management media and communication responses.
