West Moreton Education and Training Centre is a co-educational school which delivers educational programs for up to 32 remanded and sentenced young people at the West Moreton Youth Detention Centre. Our staff are committed to helping improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of our students, many of whom have had disrupted or negative experiences of schooling. An exciting opportunity exists for highly skilled, innovative and experienced English teacher to join the West Moreton Education and Training Centre. WMETC students have diverse learning needs and a significant majority have had disrupted or negative schooling experiences. We seek to address this by supporting students to close individual learning gaps and attain vocational skills leading to qualifications. We prioritise supporting students to develop language skills, foster positive behaviours and social skills and cultivate pathways. The school leadership team is united in the commitment to implement an improvement agenda underpinned by the school vision statement of 'Learning and achieving through respect, responsibility and resilience to optimise results.' WMETC is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school and has a teaching and learning philosophy based on high yield teaching strategies, common teaching practices and a teams-based approach.
