QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role:
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by overseeing, aligning, and streamlining the efforts of office personnel, field teams, and apprentices engaged in product development, delivery, and client engagement.
Duties and skills involved:
- Managing the development of high-level project construction budgets, programs and reporting required to achieve successful financial outcomes delivered in line with timeframes and client requirements
- Partnering with First Nations councils and communities to engage local suppliers and build trade capability
- Achieving operational objectives through effective planning and utilisation of resources, including successfully managing elements of a commercialised business within the Queensland Public Sector
- Preparing and effectively managing construction projects, including delivery of minor works and construction activity
- Managing, coordinating and integrating a workforce of office, field staff and apprentices involved in product development, product delivery and client liaison activities
- Ensuring a healthy and safe work environment is maintained on worksites, by undertaking audits and ensuring compliance
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and looking at future construction works across all partners
- Taking responsibility for estimate costs, schedule deliverables and supervise all on-site and off-site construction activity, to ensure compliance with building and safety regulations.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Demonstrated strong understanding and ability to demonstrate knowledge of the building construction and maintenance management industry, including principles, practices and maintenance program management will be highly regarded
