As an Investigative Computer Analyst in the Queensland Police Service Electronic Evidence Unit (EEU), you’ll play a crucial role in solving serious crime across the state. You will help uncover key digital evidence in major investigations, whether it's examining seized mobile devices, computers and vehicles or giving expert evidence in court, your work will directly contribute to keeping Queensland safe.

Your Key Accountabilities:

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Assist, either individually or as part of a team, in the forensic acquisition and analysis of digital data from various sources including, but not limited to mobile phones, computers, data storage devices and media, and cloud-based services and storage.
  • Management of significant caseload within an environment of dynamic prioritisation and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
  • Delivery of technical evidence as an expert witness in various legal proceedings throughout Queensland.
  • Provide oral and/or written briefings, technical reports and advice to investigators, prosecutors and other stakeholders relating to the digital evidence component of investigations.
  • Assist in the identification of training needs, and the development and delivery of training programs to EEU analysts and regional police in relation to digital evidence and related investigative techniques.
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of computer techniques to support digital forensic analysis and improved service delivery.
  • Represent the business in various multiagency forums and technical projects.

Role Requirements:

Mandatory

  • Degree from a recognised tertiary institution relevant to the computing function, or equivalent qualifications.

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience

  • SFIA - Digital Forensics Level 5 (SFIA)
    Programming and software development skills are favourably considered

Other

  • There are multiple temporary positions available until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension. If selected, public service officers from other agencies will be seconded for the period concerned, subject to agreement and release by the home agency.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo a psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
  • Successful applicants are required to undertake and maintain forensic certification as a Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) issued by the International Association of computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) within 2 years of commencing duty.
  • Possession of a current Driver's Licence is preferred.
